Amarula Cream is a South African cream liqueur made from the Africa Marula tree whose fruit is sometimes called “elephant juice.” Indeed, it is a favorite of elephants and is claimed to have aphrodisiac properties and is called the “marriage tree.”
The fruit is pulped locally and produces a wine, which is then distilled into a kind of brandy, aged for 2 years in oak, and blended with fresh cream for the liqueur.
It has a fair amount of alcohol in it making it a perfect drink to sip when you want to sit back and relax with friends. It is best served chilled, on the rocks or with crushed ice and can also be used in desserts such as icecream, or in coffee and cocktails.
